The time has come...

Yes fellow Juggers it is indeed time after much planning the first Australian Jugger team to play in Germany will be flying out on Wednesday of this week to take part in the Berlin Tournament on Saturday and Sunday (13th-14th of September). Starting on Friday of this week the Austrlian Juggers will be touring Germany playing Jugger and getting to know the German teams while finding out just how the game is played in Europe.

As part of the tour we will be visiting teams in Berlin, Hamburg, Bad Oldesloe, Luneburg and Dublin also with some luck we will be catching up with Dragon's Blood (the Bavarian team) at the Oktoberfest in Munich.

The first group of Juggers to go is Simon (fiend), ET, Ian, Wendy, Adam, Christian, Glenn, Garth, Nick . Krys will be coming along to take photos and provide morale support by mocking us and Pille will be meeting us in Berlin. That's 9 Juggers, and a total group of 11, for our first ever international game which is a fantastic start.

So over the next few weeks keep an eye on here for news as well as the links in the links section to the left where I've put up links to Blogs and a google map of the trip. With 32 teams registered for the tournament - this is at least 160 Juggers more if you take into account subs, refs and spectators....this is going to be a great experience.

Jugger... Now availalbe in Costa Rica

Greetings all, just a short news post this time I have been contacted this week by a new Jugger group in Costa Rica. Just 3 teams at present playing in Costa Rica but as with everywhere else the important thing is Jugger is being played.

For Anyone who is not so crash hot with Geography here is the Wiki on Costa Rica.

Alejandro who contacted me has promised an update soon with Pictures and Video of their games.

Also if you speak/ read any Spanish there is a link to their forums in the Links section.

Shirts have arrived

Hey all, the Jugger shirts have arrived and will be ready for pick up at the game on Sunday, here is a pic of the final product - click on the red highlights to see a detailed image.

IF YOU HAVE ORDERED A SHIRT BUT HAVE NOT YET PAID PLEASE BRING THE MONEY ON SUNDAY

If you missed out on a shirt and would really like one there is a chance of a second print run. If there is enough interest to print 12 shirts or more we can order another batch. So if after looking at the pics or the shirts on Sunday please let Adam know so we can gauge interest and organise another print run if people would like one.

Official Business ... then back to the fun

In October of 2007 we took a big step for jugger and incorporated as a not for profit association, the Australian Jugger League. This step was taken to help us better organise the game locally in order to spread the word of jugger and better organise the sport.

So how does this effect you all, first offer financial membership (which is voluntary). The money from these memberships  is used to cover the cost of organising the game and to help pay for promotions, such as the booth at Gencon. Financial members are encourage to take an active role in organising the game in various ways helping out at games and assisting in organising promotional events to recruit new players as well as various other important things that need to be done with keeping things organised an running smoothly.

Each year other than ordinary meetings we are required to call an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to discuss the activities of the year, report to members and to elect the management committee. This years AGM will be held on the last weekend of August, all members are invited to attend, current members will need to renew membership and new members are invited to sign up if they would like to attend the meeting.

Details of membership is available through the 'Join the League' link or at games

If you would like more information drop a line through the e-mail link at the right or HERE or post your questions on the forum

July 4 - GENCON

Since Thursday we've had the first big opportunity to promote Jugger to a large group of people, several of the Brisbane Juggers have spent Thursday and Friday talking to people from all over Australia and international visitors at the first GENCON held in Australia and there has been a lot of interest from people attending the con. For the next two days until the con closes as 4PM on Sunday we will be at out booth spreading the word and showing anyone who is interested about Jugger.

If you are one of the many people we have spoken to at Gencon about the game and are interested in coming along to see a game or starting up your own Jugger group welcome to the site and welcome to Jugger. Drop into the forums to say hi, take a look in the 'join the league' section for information on how to contact the Melbourne or Brisbane Juggers or simply browse through all the pics and video in the gallery - don't forget to visit the Youtube group (in the links section) to see video from local and international games.

We will have some pics up soon of our time at Gencon - if you're in one of the shots and would like a copy drop us an e-mail and we will see if we can get you a good copy.

MAY 14 - Welcome to the New Site

Greetings all and welcome to the shiny new site for the Australian Jugger League. A lot has happened since our site first went up on the 29th of Febuary 2004 and it has become rather dated over the years.

Since our site first went live we have grown quite a bit:

The Brisbane Juggers have gone through two fields before settling in the Current Location of New Farm Park

The Melbourne Juggers have been runing and steadily building for nearly two years now

Our first Australian team will be haeding over to Germany and Ireland to play Jugger for the first time internationally

and many more plans are steadily coming to fruition for the future of the game
